In short: if you add your house, its address, type and note are shown publicly on the map after an organiser approves it. We don’t use accounts, ads or tracking cookies. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn’t use cookies or identify you. You can remove your house at any time, and we delete everything after Halloween (by 7 November 2026).

Privacy policy

The Pakenham Trick or Treat Map (“the map”) is a free community project run by Diyonix (“we”, “us”).

What we collect

We don’t ask for your name, email or phone number, and we don’t use cookies for tracking.

We also see anonymous, combined visit statistics (such as page views, country and device type) so we know how the map is used. These can’t identify you.

Services we use

Cloudflare hosts the site, stores the data, counts visits (Web Analytics, no cookies or fingerprinting) and runs the “I’m human” check (Turnstile), which looks at browser and device signals to block bots. Data may be stored outside Australia. Cloudflare privacy policy
Photon by komoot turns what you type into address suggestions, and map taps into addresses. It receives the text you type and your IP address. komoot privacy policy
OpenStreetMap supplies the map images, and receives your IP address when the map loads. OSM privacy policy
Google Maps opens only if you tap “Get directions” or “Check location”.
“📍 Me” and “Use my location” use your device’s location. It’s used in your browser to move the map and is never stored by us.

How long we keep it

Until you remove your house, an organiser removes it, or 7 November 2026, when we delete all houses and reports.

Your choices

Remove your house: tap “🏠 Edit my house” → “Remove my house from the map”. It’s deleted straight away.
Lost access (new phone, cleared browser)? Contact us with the address and we’ll remove it.

Terms of use

By using the map or adding a house, you agree to these terms.

Adding a house

Only add a home you live at, or have the owner’s permission to add.
Your address will be public. Only add it if you’re comfortable with that.
Keep notes friendly and relevant. No offensive, misleading or commercial content.
Organisers may approve, edit, hide or remove any house at their discretion, without notice.

Using the map

Houses are added by community members. We check them for obvious problems but don’t verify who lives there or check them for safety.
Children should be supervised. Only visit houses that look welcoming, respect “no trick-or-treaters” signs, and follow road rules.
Check ingredients, especially with allergies. The “allergy-friendly” label is the householder’s own description.
Please report any house that looks fake or wrong using the link in its popup.

No warranty

The map is provided free, “as is”, and may be unavailable or inaccurate at times. As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for any loss, injury or damage arising from use of the map or visits to listed houses. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version.
